This detailed set allows for the recreation of one of the most advanced projects of Hungarian engineering from World War II, which unfortunately never went into mass production.

History and technical background:

In the spring of 1943, after the defeat at Stalingrad, the Hungarians realized that their existing medium tanks of the Turan I and II series were insufficient in the face of Soviet armored forces. In response to this situation, work began on improving the existing equipment, resulting in the creation of the Turan III tank.

The Turan III was equipped with a German KwK40 75 mm tank gun, known in Hungary as the 75mm 43M/L55. This gun had an initial projectile velocity of 770 m/s and was capable of penetrating a 76 mm steel plate at an angle of 60 degrees from a distance of 500 meters. To accommodate the new gun, a new turret was designed at the rear of the tank, and an additional commander’s cupola was added.

The thickness of the tank's armor was also increased: the front of the hull and the gun shield reached 75 mm, the sides of the hull 35 mm, and additional armor on the sides of the turret and hull was 8 mm each. Despite these improvements, the drive system remained unchanged and was based on the WM V-8H engine, which resulted in a decrease in maximum speed to 39 km/h due to the increased weight of the vehicle.

The first prototype of the Turan III was completed in February 1944 by the Wizz Manfred company. Unfortunately, mass production was never started due to material shortages, lack of labor, the invasion of Hungary, and Allied air raids.
