Description
Plastic model airplane to assemble: I-153 Luftwaffe with pilots and ground crew 1:48 ICM 48094
The Soviet biplane fighter I-153, also known as "Chaika," was created in 1938 by the Polikarpov Design Bureau. It was an evolution of the I-15 fighter line, equipped with retractable landing gear (as opposed to the fixed landing gear of the I-15) and was considered one of the most advanced biplanes of its time. A total of 3,437 units of this aircraft were produced. The I-153 was first used in combat against Japanese aviation in the skies over Mongolia in the summer of 1939. However, by the time the war between Germany and the Soviet Union began, this fighter was already considered outdated - its low speed made it unable to catch even some modifications of bombers, such as the Ju 88 and Dornier. Nevertheless, it continued to be used as a fighter, air defense aircraft, and even as an attack aircraft. During Operation Barbarossa, the advancing German forces captured many operational aircraft from Soviet airfields, including the I-153. They were used by the Luftwaffe for test flights, and some were subsequently handed over to Germany's allies, including Finland.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
