Description
Plastic model kit: IJN Battleship Mutsu 1:350 Hasegawa 40122
This plastic model kit represents the Japanese battleship Mutsu, one of the two Nagato-class ships serving in the Imperial Japanese Navy. Launched in 1920, Mutsu was one of the most powerful battleships in the world at the time, armed with eight 410 mm guns.
Historical background:
The battleship Mutsu participated in numerous operations in the Pacific during World War II, including the Battle of Midway. Its history ended tragically on June 8, 1943, when a massive internal explosion in the aft turret's ammunition chamber caused the ship to sink at the anchorage of Hashirajima. The causes of the explosion remain a subject of debate among historians, although sabotage or an unfortunate accident are most often cited.
Model specifications:
- Scale: 1:350
- High detail reproduction of superstructures and armament
- Precisely crafted hull components
Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. Assembly requires separately sold modeling tools (such as cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
