Plastic model kit: In the Skies of China (Ki-21-Ia, two Ki-27a) 1:72 ICM DS7204
A model kit depicting Japanese Army Air Force aircraft that operated over China in the early period of World War II. The package contains three complete models: one Mitsubishi Ki-21-Ia medium bomber and two Nakajima Ki-27a fighters.
Historical Background:
The Marco Polo Bridge Incident in July 1937 marked the beginning of the Second Sino-Japanese War. In the spring of 1938, Ki-27a fighters appeared in the skies over China, gaining an advantage over Chinese aviation due to the high skills of their pilots and excellent maneuverability, effectively fighting against Soviet I-15 and I-16 aircraft. In the same year, Ki-21-Ia bombers entered service. The crews of these machines developed an effective tactic of tight formations, ensuring mutual fire support. Ki-21-Ia were characterized by high survivability on the battlefield and for some time remained the only long-range bombers in the Japanese Army Air Force.
Model Characteristics in the Set:
- Mitsubishi Ki-21-Ia (Sally): Japanese twin-engine medium bomber. The model features precise reproduction of the fuselage geometry and interior details.
- Nakajima Ki-27a (Nate): Single-engine fighter with fixed landing gear, known for its exceptional maneuverability. The set includes two units of this aircraft.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. Assembly requires separately sold modeling tools (including nippers, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
