Historical background:

The M50 Super Sherman was a key element of the Israeli armored forces, created as a deep modernization of the American M4 Sherman tanks. The need to strengthen firepower in the face of the appearance of Soviet T-54 and T-55 tanks in Arab armies led to the mounting of the powerful French GIAT CN L44 105 mm cannon on the Shermans. The Mk2 version featured the use of the modern HVSS (Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension) and a new Cummins V-8 power unit with 460 hp, which significantly improved the vehicle's mobility and stability in difficult desert terrain. These tanks took part in the most important conflicts in the region, including the Six-Day War (1967) and the Yom Kippur War (1973).
