History and achievements of the Isuzu Bellett GTR: The Isuzu Bellett is a subcompact car produced by the Japanese company Isuzu from 1963 to 1973. The Bellett model replaced the Isuzu Hillman Minx, which was produced under license from the Rootes Group. The Bellett was available in various body styles, including sedan, wagon, and coupe. The GT-R version, or GT Type-R, was a special racing version equipped with a 1.6 L DOHC engine from the 117 Coupe and a number of other modifications, including disc brakes.
The GT-R was visually distinguished by a black hood and was available only as a two-door coupe. This car achieved many successes in racing, and its production was limited to about 1400 units. In 1970, the Isuzu Bellett GT-R secured second place in the overall classification and victory in its class during the Japanese All-Star Race Silver Star Cup B.
Cultural significance: The Isuzu Bellett GT-R gained recognition not only on racetracks but also among automotive enthusiasts. In 2006, readers of the Japanese magazine Nostalgic Hero ranked the Bellett GT-R 10th in the list of the 50 best Japanese cars. This model also appeared in popular video games such as Gran Turismo 4, Gran Turismo for PSP, Gran Turismo 5, and Gran Turismo 6, further emphasizing its iconic status.
