The Jagdpanzer 38, known after the war as Hetzer, was a German light tank destroyer used during World War II. It was based on the chassis of the Panzer 38(t) tank and was designed in response to the need for an easily produced yet effective tank destroyer that could replace older models such as the StuG III and the Marder series.

Production of the Jagdpanzer 38 began in April 1944, and the vehicle quickly became the main tank destroyer in the German army. Due to its compact form and low silhouette, the Hetzer was difficult to detect and destroy, making it an effective tool in defensive operations. It was armed with a 7.5 cm Pak 39 L/48 gun and a remotely operated MG 34 machine gun, providing it with significant firepower.
