Boeing 777-200 – history and achievements:
The Boeing 777, also known as the "Triple Seven," is an American long-range wide-body aircraft developed and produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It is the largest twin-engine airplane in the world and the most produced wide-body aircraft. Designed to fill the gap between other Boeing wide-body aircraft, such as the twin-engine 767 and the four-engine 747, the 777 was intended to replace the aging tri-engine DC-10 and L-1011.
The 777 program was launched in October 1990 with an order from United Airlines. The prototype of the aircraft was unveiled in April 1994, and the first flight took place in June of the same year. The aircraft entered service in June 1995. Since then, the Boeing 777 has become one of the best-selling wide-body aircraft, with over 2,300 units ordered and more than 70 operators worldwide.
The first 777-200 model made its maiden flight on June 12, 1994.
