History and significance: Isokaze played a significant role in many naval operations during World War II. Kagero class destroyers were valued for their ability to move quickly and effectively attack enemy vessels. Isokaze, like other ships of this class, was equipped with modern Type 93 torpedoes, which were among the most effective torpedoes used during the war.
In May 2016, the wreck of Isokaze was located during an underwater survey, but this information was only made public in February 2018. This discovery contributed to a better understanding of the history of this destroyer and its role in military operations.
