Description
Plastic model kit: Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Akagi "Three Flight Deck" with 1:700 Hasegawa 30072 deck aircraft set
A plastic model depicting the legendary Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi in its unique, early configuration with three flight decks (Triple Flight Deck). This is a limited edition enriched with an extensive set of interwar deck aircraft.
Akagi, originally designed as an Amagi-class battlecruiser, was converted into an aircraft carrier as a result of the Washington Naval Treaty provisions. In its original form, it featured a characteristic three-deck structure, intended to allow simultaneous launch and recovery operations. The model allows for building the ship in two time variants:
- Early version (initial configuration upon entering service).
- Mid-period version from 1934–1935, featuring a small temporary command post on the starboard side of the uppermost deck.
The set is distinguished by its rich complement of miniature biplane deck aircraft, allowing for a realistic depiction of the full complement of the flight decks. The box contains parts for 30 machines:
- 15 units of Nakajima Type 90 (A1N) carrier fighters.
- 15 units of Mitsubishi Type 13 Model 2 (B1M2) torpedo bombers.
The set also includes a decal sheet dedicated to the carrier air wing, covering markings for 12 fighters and 15 bomber aircraft.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. Required for assembly are separately sold modeling tools (including sprue cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model cement (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
