Description
Plastic model aircraft kit: JD-1D Invader 1:48 ICM 48287
A plastic model depicting the JD-1D Invader aircraft, used by the United States Navy (US Navy). In the second half of the 1940s, the Navy began using Invader aircraft for various auxiliary missions. The naval versions were designated JD-1 and nicknamed "Jig Dog". These machines were characterized by bright paint schemes for easy identification and were used, among other things, for towing air targets or photographing objects. The JD-1D version was additionally used as a carrier for unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) that served as training targets for pilots and anti-aircraft defense systems.
The Douglas A-26 Invader is an American, twin-engine, light bomber of all-metal construction. Thanks to its excellent aerodynamic properties and high performance, this design served not only during World War II but also during the conflicts in Korea and Vietnam. The last examples were withdrawn from service only in 1969.
