History and background of the aircraft: The Junkers JU-87, also known as Stuka (an abbreviation of the German Sturzkampfflugzeug, meaning dive bomber), is one of the most famous bombers used by the Luftwaffe during World War II. The G-2 version was specially adapted for tank and armored vehicle combat, making it extremely effective in operations on the Eastern Front.
This aircraft was equipped with two 37 mm cannons mounted under the wings, capable of penetrating the armor of most tanks of that time. Thanks to its design and armament, the JU-87G-2 became a nightmare for enemy armored units. Its distinctive sound of the siren, known as the "Jericho Trumpet," instilled fear among soldiers on the ground.
