The KF51 Panther is a modern main battle tank that was first publicly presented at the Eurosatory defense exhibition on June 13, 2022. This tank is being developed as a private initiative by Rheinmetall, aimed at enhancing the combat capabilities, mobility, survivability, and networking capabilities of main battle tanks without significantly increasing their weight.

The development of the KF51 Panther began in 2016, and system-level design started in 2018. Rheinmetall, in collaboration with partners from Hungary and Italy, is working on various variants of this tank. In 2023, the Hungarian government announced its commitment to the development of the KF51, planning an investment of 300 million euros.

The KF51 Panther is equipped with advanced optical and electronic systems that minimize the response time from detection to firing. By using AI algorithms, the tank automatically detects targets both in motion and stationary. These systems provide the crew with full situational awareness, which is crucial on the modern battlefield.
