This plastic model kit represents the Kfz.1 Type 170VK – a light German off-road vehicle from World War II. This vehicle was developed for the Wehrmacht based on the chassis of the civilian Mercedes-Benz 170V. The military version received four-wheel drive and reinforced components, allowing it to serve as a versatile transport vehicle for infantry and a command car on almost all fronts of the war.

After the outbreak of the war, many civilian examples were requisitioned by the military, but it was the dedicated VK (Vorn-Krieg) version with a simplified Kübelwagen body that became the standard light off-road vehicle (leichter geländegängiger Personenkraftwagen) of the German army. These vehicles served from the September campaign to the fighting in Berlin in 1945.
