History and technical background: The KHD S3000 was one of the most numerous trucks used by the Wehrmacht during World War II. Produced from 1940 at the Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz factories in Ulm, this truck was equipped with a four-cylinder Deutz diesel engine and rear-wheel drive. A total of 10,684 units of this model were produced between 1940 and 1944.
The KHD S3000 trucks were widely used on all fronts, including the Eastern Front, North Africa, Italy, and France. Due to the limited off-road capabilities of vehicles with single-axle drive, many of them were converted into half-track vehicles of the Maultier type, which increased their off-road capabilities.
The KHD S3000 was a key logistical element of the German army, used for transporting supplies, equipment, and soldiers. Its production was part of a larger plan to standardize military vehicles, aimed at increasing production efficiency and facilitating the supply of spare parts.
