The King Tiger Sd.Kfz.182 Porsche Turret w/Zimmerit model kit in 1:35 scale from the renowned manufacturer Takom is an excellent proposition for model enthusiasts and military history lovers. This detailed set allows for the recreation of one of the most famous German heavy tanks from World War II, also known as the Royal Tiger.
Model features:
- Scale: 1:35
- Manufacturer: Takom
The model depicts the tank version with a Porsche turret, covered with the characteristic zimmerit, which adds realism and authenticity. Zimmerit is a special anti-magnetic coating used on German armored vehicles to protect against magnetic mines.
Vehicle history: PzKpfw VI Ausf. B Tiger II, known as King Tiger, was one of the most powerful tanks used by the Wehrmacht during World War II. Its production began in 1944, and by the end of the war, 487 units were produced. The tank was armed with a PaK 43 L/71 88 mm gun and two MG34 7.92 mm machine guns. Despite its impressive armament and armor, the Tiger II had its flaws, such as an underpowered engine and a problematic transmission system.
Battlefield application: The King Tiger made its combat debut during the Normandy operation in 1944 and later participated in battles on the Eastern Front and the Ardennes Offensive. Its powerful gun was capable of destroying most Allied armored vehicles at long ranges, making it a formidable opponent on the battlefield.
