The Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo debuted in 1979 in the World Manufacturers' Championship. The car was developed by the Lancia headquarters under the leadership of Daniele Audetto to break Porsche 935's long-standing dominance. Equipped with a 1425 cm3 turbocharged engine, it competed in the under 2-liter class. By the end of the 1979 season, Lancia secured first place in its class, proving its competitiveness on tracks around the world.
