Description
Plastic model aircraft for assembly: Lavochkin La-5FN 1:72 Smer 0898
A plastic model for assembly depicting the Soviet fighter from the World War II period - Lavochkin La-5FN. This aircraft was one of the most important machines of Soviet aviation, being an effective response to the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighters. The FN version (Firsir owannyj Nieposriedstwienno) was characterized by a direct fuel injection engine, which significantly improved the machine's performance at low and medium altitudes.
The Lavochkin La-5 entered production in 1942 as a deep modernization of the not very successful LaGG-3 model. Thanks to the use of the powerful Shvetsov M-82 radial engine, the design gained the necessary power and maneuverability. These aircraft played a key role during the Battle of Kursk and in later offensive operations of the Red Army. The La-5FN was valued by pilots for its durability and strong armament consisting of two 20 mm ShVAK cannons.
