History and significance of the TK-3 tankette:

The TK-3 tankette, also known as TK, was a Polish light reconnaissance tank that played an important role in the Polish armed forces in the 1930s. Its design was based on the English Carden-Loyd tankette, and serial production took place at the Ursus factory in Czechowice near Warsaw. Between 1931 and 1933, about 300 units of this vehicle were produced.

The TK-3 tankettes were used in various military operations, including the operation to occupy Zaolzie in 1938. During the September campaign in 1939, about 470 TK-3 and TKS tankettes performed reconnaissance and patrol functions, supporting the attacking cavalry and infantry and covering retreating units. After the campaign ended, some of these vehicles were taken over by the German and Hungarian armies.

The TK-3 tankette was valued for its maneuverability and low detectability from the air, although it also had its drawbacks, such as limited firing range and insufficient armor. Nevertheless, it was an essential element of the Polish armored forces during the interwar period.
