The Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II is one of the most modern multirole aircraft in the world, belonging to the fifth generation of fighters. This machine was designed with stealth technology, allowing it to operate in heavily defended airspace with minimal risk of detection by enemy radar. The "B" version is characterized by its unique short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) capability, making it the ideal successor to legendary Harrier-type machines. Thanks to this, the F-35B can operate from the decks of modern Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers and from improvised field airfields.

In British service, this aircraft continues the Lightning name tradition, being the third machine in RAF history to bear this designation after the WWII P-38 and the Cold War English Electric Lightning. This model faithfully reproduces the British variant operated by the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy.
