Historical background:

The Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) was one of the most famous and effective irregular formations during World War II. Their main task was to conduct deep reconnaissance, observe Axis troop movements along coastal roads, and carry out raids, including attacks on airfields. The LRDG was also responsible for transporting Allied agents and SAS troops during their first missions behind enemy lines, as well as rescuing downed aircrew and lost soldiers. They were the first to accurately map the North African desert.

During operations in North Africa, the LRDG used various vehicles, including Ford F30 trucks, which replaced earlier Chevrolet models. The Ford F30, with four-wheel drive and a more powerful V8 engine producing 95 HP, offered greater cargo space. Although they were harder to camouflage and less economical, their modifications, such as the removal of the cab for a lower profile and the addition of special weapon mounts, made them ideal for desert operations.
