Description
Luftwaffe in Africa Paint Set 6x17ml Hataka HTK-BS06.2
Acrylic paint set from the Blue Line series, optimized for brush painting, containing standard camouflage colors of Luftwaffe aircraft operating in North Africa during World War II.
History and Use:
Luftwaffe aircraft in North Africa from April 1941 used a dedicated three-color desert camouflage based on RLM 79, 80, and 78 colors. The upper surfaces were factory painted in RLM 79 (initially in a lighter shade, later changed to a darker one), while the lower surfaces were covered with RLM 78. The color RLM 80 was used for applying irregular spots on the upper and side surfaces of selected types of aircraft, often applied directly in field units.
Contents of the Set:
- HTK-B014 Sand-Yellow (RLM79a) - factory color for upper surfaces in the early Mediterranean scheme (from April 1941 to the turn of 1941/42)
- HTK-B172 Sand-Brown (RLM79b) - factory color for upper surfaces in the late Mediterranean scheme (from late 1941 to withdrawal from Africa)
- HTK-B053 Olive-Green (RLM80) - used for camouflage spots applied over RLM 78/79 colors
- HTK-B314 Light Blue (RLM78) - standard color for the lower surfaces of Luftwaffe aircraft in the Mediterranean scheme
- HTK-B040 Black-Grey (RLM66) - standard color for instrument panels and cockpits visible from the outside
- HTK-B066 Insignia Yellow (RLM04) - color for markings and identification elements, such as engine covers, fuselage stripes, or vertical stabilizers
