Plastic military model kit: M1128 MGS Stryker After 2010 w/MILES (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System) 1:35 Rye Field Model 5148
The M1128 MGS Stryker After 2010 w/MILES model kit in 1:35 scale from Rye Field Model is an excellent choice for military modeling enthusiasts. This detailed set allows you to recreate one of the most advanced combat vehicles used by the U.S. Army. The M1128 MGS (Mobile Gun System) is an eight-wheeled assault vehicle from the Stryker family, equipped with a 105 mm tank gun, based on the Canadian Light Armored Vehicle LAV III, produced by General Dynamics Land Systems.
Model features:
- Scale: 1:35
- Manufacturer: Rye Field Model
- Catalog number: 5148
- Includes parts to assemble the M1128 MGS Stryker with the MILES (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System)
History and application: The MGS program was created after the cancellation of the M8 Armored Gun System project in 1996, which was intended to replace the M551 Sheridan light tank. The M1128 MGS was introduced into service in limited numbers and was withdrawn at the end of 2022 due to design and operational issues. This vehicle was primarily used to support infantry, and its design allowed for air transport by C-130, which required lowering the turret into the hull.
The M1128 MGS was part of Stryker brigades, where initially 27 vehicles were planned per brigade, but due to limited production, this number was reduced to 10. In total, the U.S. Army purchased 142 units of this vehicle, of which three were lost in combat.
Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
