Description
Plastic military model kit: M4A2 (76)W Sherman 1:35 Zvezda 3645
A plastic model kit depicting the American M4A2 (76)W Sherman medium tank in 1:35 scale. It is a detailed miniature of a vehicle that played a key role on the fronts of World War II, especially as part of Lend-Lease shipments to the Soviet Union.
The M4A2 (76)W was a diesel modification of the famous Sherman, equipped with a welded hull and a power unit consisting of two General Motors 6046 engines. The most important change in this version was the introduction of a new turret with a 76 mm cannon equipped with a vertical stabilizer. The "W" (Wet) designation referred to the so-called "wet" ammunition storage. Combat experience showed that Shermans were prone to fires after being hit in the side. In the new design, the shells were moved to the floor of the fighting compartment, and the spaces between the racks were filled with a mixture of water and antifreeze, which significantly reduced the risk of explosion and fire.
The model is characterized by the following features:
- Precisely reproduced welded hull construction.
- New type of turret with a 76 mm cannon.
- The set contains 262 parts made of high-quality plastic.
- The length of the finished model is 21.6 cm.
- The model represents the version produced between May and December 1944.
The M4A2 (76)W version was supplied almost exclusively to the USSR, as the US Army preferred gasoline engines for logistical reasons, making this model an excellent choice for enthusiasts of armored vehicles from the Eastern Front.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. Assembly requires separately sold modeling tools (e.g., nippers, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
