Description
Plastic military model kit: M51 "Degem Alef" 1:35 Takom 2208
Plastic model of the Israeli main battle tank M51 "Degem Alef" in 1:35 scale. This vehicle, also known as the Super Sherman, was a significant modernization of the American M4 Sherman tank, developed to counter the Arab T-54 and T-55 designs. The M51 version was distinguished primarily by its powerful French 105 mm gun with a characteristic muzzle brake.
Model features:- Accurately reproduced shape of the M51 tank in the Degem Alef variant.
- The kit includes a metal gun barrel.
- Movable suspension and road wheels.
- Hatches can be mounted in open or closed position.
- Photo-etched (PE) parts to enhance detail realism.
- Transparent parts for optics.
- Workable tracks.
- Four marking variants.
The M51 tanks entered service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the 1960s. Their combat debut occurred in 1964 during the so-called Water War, and they gained the most fame during the Six-Day War (1967) and the Yom Kippur War (1973). Thanks to the use of a modern fire control system and a powerful gun, these upgraded Shermans were able to effectively engage with more modern Soviet-made tanks. They remained in service with the IDF until the 1990s.
Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
