The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is undoubtedly one of the most famous fighter aircraft of World War II, forming the backbone of the German Luftwaffe's fighter units. Throughout the conflict, the machine was regularly modernized to keep up with the performance of increasingly modern Allied aircraft. The G version, popularly known as "Gustav," was the most widely produced variant of this fighter. The most significant change to improve the machine's performance in this version was the installation of the new, 12-cylinder Daimler-Benz DB605A engine with 1475 HP.

The model kit from Italeri, number 1483, allows for the construction of a miniature of the aircraft in 1:72 scale. The "WWII Aces" edition focuses on machines flown by the most decorated aces of the German air force. The included decal sheet allows for the creation of the model in the colors of the units in which pilots such as:
