History of the aircraft: The MiG-29 was designed in the 1970s as a lightweight frontline fighter to complement heavier air superiority fighters like the Su-27. The prototype's first flight took place in 1977, and serial production began in 1983. In Poland, the MiG-29 entered service in 1989 and has since been one of the key elements of the country's air defense.
