The Mitsubishi A6M Reisen, commonly known as the Zero or Zeke, is a Japanese, single-engine, all-metal, low-wing fighter aircraft. The prototype first flew on April 1, 1939, and it entered service in the summer of 1940. The A6M2 Model 21 version was one of the most famous editions of this aircraft, specially prepared for carrier operations due to the use of folding wingtips. It became the primary Japanese carrier-based fighter in the early period of the Pacific War, taking part in, among others, the attack on Pearl Harbor.
