Plastic model aircraft for assembly: Nakhon Phanom Air Base 1:48 ICM DS4804 The model kit depicting Nakhon Phanom Air Base is a comprehensive project in 1:48 scale that transports the modeler to the realities of the Vietnam War. In the spring of 1966, to counter the offensive of Ho Chi Minh's troops, the American command decided to deploy B-26K strike aircraft to Southeast Asia. They were stationed in northeastern Thailand, at Nakhon Phanom airfield, due to its proximity to combat areas. To enable their stationing in Thailand, the B-26K Counter Invader machines were officially designated as A-26A attack aircraft. Most of the combat missions of the 609th Special Operations Squadron took place under the cover of night, which was dictated by the strong Vietnamese anti-aircraft defense, posing a serious threat to the slower piston-engined aircraft. Alongside the powerful B-26Ks, light observation aircraft O-2 Skymaster were also based at Nakhon Phanom, used for special tasks and guidance, often painted black for night flights. Kit Contents:

Characteristics of the Originals:

Douglas A-26 Invader: An American twin-engine light bomber of metal construction. The K version (A-26A) was a modernized variant intended for counter-insurgency operations, characterized by powerful gun armament in the nose of the fuselage and numerous hardpoints under the wings.
Cessna O-2 Skymaster: A twin-boom observation aircraft with two engines in a tractor-pusher configuration. Primarily used as a Forward Air Controller (FAC), it played a key role in coordinating air strikes over Vietnam.
