Description
Plastic model airplane for assembly: O-2A Skymaster (late production) 1:48 ICM 48292
The Cessna O-2 Skymaster is an American observation aircraft with a distinctive twin-boom design in a push-pull configuration (with one pulling engine in the nose and one pushing engine at the rear of the fuselage). This solution provided simplicity in piloting in the event of an engine failure and excellent visibility from the cockpit, which was crucial in forward air control (FAC) missions.
History and use:- The aircraft entered service in 1967 as a successor to the O-1 Bird Dog model.
- The O-2A version was intended for reconnaissance, observation, and target marking for strike aircraft.
- During the Vietnam War, the O-2A played a key role in night missions, where its smaller cockpit lighting gave it an advantage over newer OV-10 Bronco aircraft.
- After the end of the conflict in Southeast Asia, these aircraft served in the USAF and Air National Guard until the late 1980s.
- Accurately reproduced airframe geometry in 1:48 scale.
- Detailed cockpit interior and engine mock-ups.
- The kit includes underwing mounted ordnance on four pylons.
- Includes decals for 3 marking variants, including the aircraft with serial number 68-11013.
- Number of parts: 196.
- Model dimensions: 185 mm in length and 242 mm in wingspan.
- Light Grey - Revell 176 / Tamiya XF19
- Flat Black - Revell 108 / Tamiya XF1
- Flat White - Revell 105 / Tamiya XF2
- Yellow - Revell 115 / Tamiya XF3
- Olive Drab - Revell 142 / Tamiya XF62
- Steel - Revell 191 / Tamiya X32
