History and use:

The OQF 6 Pdr, or Ordnance Quick-Firing 6-pounder, is a British 57 mm caliber gun that played a key role as the primary anti-tank gun during World War II. Although the gun's design was created before the war broke out, its production was delayed due to the defeat of France in 1940 and the necessity to continue producing 2-pounder anti-tank guns. Ultimately, the 6-pounder entered service in 1942 during the North African campaign, replacing older models and allowing the return of 25-pound howitzers to their original artillery role.

The Mk.IV version depicted by the model was equipped with a longer L/50 barrel and a muzzle brake, which increased its effectiveness against modern German and Italian tanks. This gun was mounted on the Mk.III carriage, known as the airborne version, which featured a reduced width and redesigned armor shield. Thanks to these modifications, the gun could be transported in military Horsa gliders, which was crucial for airborne operations.

The gun was used by the British 1st and 6th Airborne Divisions and the Polish Parachute Brigade, where it served as a key element of anti-tank defense. Its mobility and ability to be quickly deployed on the battlefield made it indispensable in both offensive and defensive operations.
