Historical background: The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was a fighter aircraft from World War II produced by the American company Republic Aviation from 1941 to 1945. It was one of the heaviest fighters of the war, weighing up to 8 tons at full load. Equipped with eight .50 caliber machine guns, it could carry 5-inch rockets or a bomb load of 2,500 pounds (1,100 kg).

The Thunderbolt was effective as an escort fighter at short, medium, and long ranges, as well as in air combat at high altitudes. Its design was based on a powerful Pratt and Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine, which provided dominance at high altitudes thanks to an advanced turbocharger system.

The P-47 was one of the main fighters of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during World War II and also served in other Allied air forces, including France, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, as well as in Mexican and Brazilian squadrons.
