History and use of the P-51 Mustang: The P-51 Mustang, designed in the USA on British order, was initially equipped with an American Allison engine, making it ideal for low-altitude operations. However, it gained true fame with the use of the British Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, produced under license by Packard. This made the Mustang one of the best fighters of World War II.

On the European theater of operations, Mustangs were known for escorting bombers during raids on Germany, effectively contributing to the weakening of the Luftwaffe. However, their actions in the so-called CBI Theater (China-Burma-India) were equally important, where aviation was mainly used to support ground troops, defend against enemy aircraft, attack ground targets, and reconnaissance. In these roles, the Mustang, thanks to its speed and high payload capacity, excelled as a ground-attack aircraft and dive bomber.

Set for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
