Plastic model aircraft for assembly: P-51K Mustang 1:72 Arma Hobby 70071

Plastic model of the American long-range fighter P-51K Mustang in 1:72 scale, produced by the Polish company Arma Hobby. The K version was produced at North American Aviation plants in Dallas as a development of the famous D variant. These aircraft were characterized by the use of Aeroproducts propellers (instead of Hamilton Standard) and a specific "Dallas Hood" cockpit canopy. These Mustangs served on many fronts of World War II, from Europe (also in RAF colors as Mustang Mk IVa) to the Far Eastern theater of operations in the Philippines and Iwo Jima.

The North American P-51 Mustang is one of the most iconic fighters of World War II. Its excellent performance, especially after the introduction of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine (produced in the USA as the Packard V-1650), allowed for effective escort of bombers over German territory. The P-51K version, although partly due to production shortages of Hamilton Standard propellers, proved to be an equally effective combat machine, remaining in service in many countries long after the war ended.
