History and design of the Panzerkampfwagen VII Lowe: The Panzerkampfwagen VII Lowe, also known as VK 70.01, was a project for a super-heavy tank developed by the Krupp company between 1941 and 1942. This project was created in response to the needs of the Wehrmacht, which was looking for a tank capable of competing with Soviet armored designs. Initially, it was planned to create two versions of the tank – a lighter and a heavier one, but ultimately it was decided to develop only the heavier version, known as Schwerer Lowe.

The Lowe project was to be armed with a 105 mm, 128 mm, or 150 mm gun, and its armor was to be between 100 to 120 mm at the front and 80 to 100 mm on the sides. The tank was to be powered by a Maybach HL230 engine with an output of 800 HP, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of up to 23 km/h. The weight of the tank was to be around 90 tons, making it one of the heaviest armored projects of that time.

Despite advanced design work, the Lowe project was ultimately canceled in favor of the even heavier Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus. This decision was the result of increasing demands for armor and armament that exceeded the technical capabilities available at that time.
