Description

Vallejo Pigment FX Pigment Binder is a water-based binder (medium) designed for working with modeling pigments. Used alone or mixed with pigment, it allows for stable settling of the powder on the surface and control over the effect's intensity. Due to its slower drying time, it provides more time for spreading and modeling dirt, and leaves a matte finish after drying.

Purpose: fixing pigments and creating dirt and mud effects

This preparation is useful for building up layers of dust, dried mud, and deposits on undercarriages, tracks, wheels, heavily used parts, and in the recesses of details. After application, it allows control over whether the pigment remains a delicate layer or becomes more "compact" resembling accumulated earth. In practice, it can be used in several ways. Most often, a small amount of binder is mixed with pigment to create a paste and applied locally where the dirt is intended to have greater volume. Alternatively, the pigment can be applied dry, and then the binder is introduced locally to fix it and limit shedding. Slower drying facilitates corrections: the material can be gently moved, the edges of the dirt can be blended, and tonal transitions can be built up. After drying, the surface remains matte, which is typical for dust and earth effects on models and dioramas. Applications:
