Description
Plastic model aircraft kit: Piper L-4H 1:72 Smer 0948
A plastic model depicting the legendary Piper L-4H Grasshopper liaison and observation aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is a classic design that played a key role during World War II as the "eyes" of the artillery and a means of transport for liaison officers.
History of the original:
The Piper L-4 Grasshopper was the military version of the popular civilian Piper J-3 Cub aircraft. It was characterized by excellent short take-off and landing (STOL) capabilities, which allowed it to operate from makeshift field runways and even roads. The L-4H version differed from earlier variants with minor equipment changes and was mass-produced in the final period of the war. These aircraft took part in the Normandy landings and campaigns in Western Europe and the Pacific. After the war, many units went to civil aviation and the air forces of other countries, including Czechoslovakia.
Available painting and marking variants:
- Piper L-4H Grasshopper - US Air Force, June 1944
- Piper K-68 (L-4H) - Czechoslovak Air Force (numbers 10 and 26)
- Piper O-59 - US Air Force, 1941
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. To assemble, you will need separately sold modeling tools (e.g., nippers, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
