History of the 100mm wz. 14/19 howitzer:
The 100mm wz. 14/19 howitzer was a Czechoslovak design, produced at Skoda factories. It was an improved version of the earlier 100mm M.14 howitzer, which had been used by the Austro-Hungarian army since 1914. After the end of World War I, Czechoslovakia resumed production of this weapon in a modernized form, which included extending the barrel to 24 calibers, significantly increasing its range.
In Poland, this howitzer was produced under license from 1928 at factories in Starachowice, and later also in Stalowa Wola. At the outbreak of World War II, the Polish Army had about 900 units of this type of howitzer, which were a key element of the equipment of light artillery regiments.
The wz. 14/19 howitzer had been used by the Polish Army since 1918. During the war with Soviet Russia, a large number of these howitzers were purchased, and after the war, a license for their production was acquired. In 1939, these howitzers were part of the equipment of light artillery regiments and were also used in armored trains and as armament for river monitors of the Pinsk Flotilla.
During the September campaign in 1939, the wz. 14/19 howitzers effectively supported Polish defensive actions. After the capitulation of Poland, many of these howitzers were seized by German forces and used under the designation 10-cm leFH 14/19(p).
