Description
Plastic military model for assembly: Polish 75 mm field gun wz. 1897 Schneider on DS wheels 1:72 First To Fight PL045
The 75 mm field gun wz. 1897 is one of the most iconic artillery designs in history, which played a key role in the Polish Army. Developed in France at the Schneider works, it became a symbol of modernity thanks to the use of an innovative recoil mechanism, which allowed shots to be fired without the need to re-aim after every recoil. In the Polish army, this gun, commonly called the "seventy-five," formed the core of the field artillery during the Polish-Soviet War and the September Campaign in 1939.
The model depicts the version on wooden wheels (DS), which was the most commonly used in horse-drawn traction. At the outbreak of World War II, Poland possessed about 1370 units of this weapon. The gun was characterized by a combat weight of 1190 kg and a maximum range of up to 11,200 meters.
Characteristics of the original:- Caliber: 75 mm
- Weight in firing position: 1190 kg
- Total length: approx. 4.5 m
- Rate of fire: up to 12 rounds per minute
- Maximum range: approx. 11,200 m
The set from First To Fight is part of the publishing series "September 1939," which means that in addition to the plastic model parts, the package includes a historical booklet presenting the operational background and technical data of the given equipment unit.
Set for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are required (including nippers, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
