Vehicle history: The Polish Fiat 621 L is a truck produced in Poland under license from the Italian Fiat between 1935 and 1939. The production of this model was the result of a licensing agreement signed on September 21, 1931, between Fiat and the State Engineering Works (PZInż.). This vehicle, with a payload of 2.5 tons, was initially assembled from Italian parts, but over time, Polish factories began to introduce their own modifications to adapt the vehicle to domestic conditions.
In the Polish version, the chassis was reinforced, the wheelbase was increased, and a larger fuel tank was used. Changes were also made to the engine and carburetor design, which improved its efficiency and durability. The Polish Fiat 621 L was produced in various body versions, including as an ambulance, fire truck, civilian vehicle, as well as in airport and military versions.
The military version represented by the model was equipped with wooden-steel driver cabins and wooden cargo boxes. These vehicles were used by the Polish army as command vehicles, field workshops, tractor units, and as platforms for self-propelled anti-aircraft guns.
The Polish Fiat 621 L played a significant role in Polish automotive and military history during the interwar period. Between 1935 and 1939, approximately 13,000 chassis of this model were produced, most of which were lighter trucks. These vehicles were used both by the military and in civilian transport, making them an important element of Polish automotive heritage.
