Plastic model kit of the car: Porsche 962 1:43 Heller 56109
The Porsche 962 is a legendary German racing car that dominated the tracks in the 1980s. Introduced in 1984 as the successor to the 956, it was designed by Norbert Singer to meet the requirements of the American IMSA GTP series and the European Group C. This design became one of the most successful cars in motorsport history, achieving spectacular victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1986 and 1987, as well as dominating the World Sportscar Championship.
The 1:43 scale model from Heller depicts the Porsche 962 C version that competed in the 1989 Le Mans race. Despite fierce competition from newer Mercedes and Jaguar designs, the Porsche 962 remained an extremely formidable rival due to its reliability and excellent handling.
