History and characteristics of the original: The prototype of the Potez 540 first flew in November 1933. The machine was designed as a BCR type aircraft (Bombardement, Combat, Reconnaissance), meaning it was capable of performing bombing, air combat, and long-range reconnaissance roles. In the French army, it also served as a transport aircraft. The design, although modern at the time of its creation, quickly became obsolete in the face of the rapid development of aviation in the 1930s. By 1939, most units had been transferred to service in the colonies, mainly in North Africa. The Potez 540 also made its mark in history through its participation in the Spanish Civil War on the side of the Republican forces. Model specifications:
