Description
Plastic military model kit for assembly: Pz.Kpfw. 40R 736 (f) or Renault R40 with SA18 gun with tail 1:72 First To Fight PL132
The Renault R40 was a French light tank from the early years of World War II, which entered service in 1940. The vehicle was developed as an upgrade of the Renault R35 tank and is often treated as a variant of that vehicle. Compared to its predecessor, the Renault R40 featured a completely new suspension, to some extent modeled on the Char B1 Bis tank, as well as new main armament consisting of the successful SA38 37 mm gun with a barrel length of 35 calibers and a standard-mounted radio station. All these changes meant that the vehicle handled better in off-road conditions than the Renault R35, possessed quite effective anti-tank armament, and commanding it via radio was significantly more efficient. However, the tank had its drawbacks: primarily, it consumed much more fuel than the standard R35 and had a slightly overloaded suspension. The Renault R40 was produced and entered service mostly shortly before or already during the French campaign of 1940, meaning the exact number of vehicles of this type produced is not fully known.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. Assembly requires separately sold modeling tools (e.g., side cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
