The PZL P.11c was an evolution of earlier fighter models designed by engineer Zygmunt Puławski. At the time of its introduction into service in 1935, the P.11c was one of the most modern fighters in the world. Its distinctive features include a braced high-wing configuration with the so-called Puławski wing, which provided good visibility for the pilot, and a fixed scissor-type landing gear with shock absorbers hidden in the fuselage.
During the September campaign in 1939, the PZL P.11c was the primary fighter of the Polish Air Force. Although it lagged behind modern German aircraft in performance, its maneuverability, good visibility from the cockpit, and the skills of Polish pilots allowed for effective air combat. The P.11c became a symbol of Polish military aviation during that period.
The only preserved example of the PZL P.11c is located in the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow. This aircraft, captured by the Germans, ended up in the Aviation Museum in Berlin, and after the war, it returned to Poland.
