The History of the Range Rover: The Range Rover, whose first model debuted on June 17, 1970, revolutionized the off-road vehicle market. It was produced from July 1970 to February 1996 and was continuously improved throughout that time. Equipped with a permanent four-wheel drive, coil spring suspension, and a 3.5-liter V8 engine, the Range Rover became a model for many luxury off-road vehicles of the 70s.

The project's beginnings date back to 1951 when the Rover Company experimented with a larger model than the Land Rover Series. However, the "Road Rover" project was shelved in 1958 and revisited only in 1966. The first prototype of the Range Rover was created in 1967, and its design was finalized in 1969. Between 1969 and 1970, 26 development vehicles marked Velar were built, which were used for testing and promotion.

The Range Rover quickly gained recognition as an example of excellent industrial design, confirmed by its exhibition at the Musée du Louvre in Paris in the 70s. In 1972, during the British Trans-America Expedition, the Range Rover became the first vehicle to cross both Americas, including the impassable Darien Gap.
