History and significance of the vehicle: Raupenschlepper Ost (RSO) is a fully tracked tractor developed and produced for the Wehrmacht during World War II. Its main task was to support logistics on the Eastern Front, where difficult road and weather conditions, especially during the "Rasputitsa" (the muddy season), posed a serious challenge for traditional wheeled vehicles.

The RSO was designed by Steyr Daimler Puch AG in collaboration with a tank commission led by Ferdinand Porsche. This vehicle was intended to provide adequate towing power and additional cargo space, which was essential for effectively supplying front-line units. Many technical elements, including the air-cooled V8 engine, were sourced from the Steyr 1500A truck, facilitating production.
