The Raupenschlepper Ost (RSO) is one of the most characteristic constructions of the German logistical support during World War II. The vehicle was created as a direct response to the catastrophic terrain conditions on the Eastern Front, where wheeled trucks struggled with the ubiquitous mud and snow. The RSO/01 in early production version was a fully tracked, lightweight tractor that, due to its simple construction and excellent off-road capabilities, became an invaluable support for Wehrmacht units.

This set depicts the RSO as an artillery tractor for the famous 7.5 cm Pak 40 anti-tank gun. It was one of the most effective anti-tank guns of the war, capable of destroying most Allied and Soviet tanks. The combination of a mobile tracked tractor with the powerful firepower of the Pak 40 created an extremely formidable and mobile anti-tank team, capable of operating in the most difficult terrain.
