About the BTR-70: The BTR-70 is an eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier that was developed by the Soviet Union in the late 1960s. Officially adopted into service on August 21, 1972, the BTR-70 was an evolution of the earlier BTR-60 series, from which it borrowed many design solutions. Its main task was to transport soldiers and provide them with fire support, even in conditions of mass destruction weapon use.
The BTR-70 was first used during the war in Afghanistan. Despite some drawbacks, such as flammable gasoline engines and limited entry and exit capabilities, the vehicle was widely exported and used in many conflicts around the world. Among them are the Angolan civil war, the Yugoslav wars, and the conflict in Donbas. During the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the BTR-70 was also in use.
