History of the samurais:
Samurais are an elite class of warriors that emerged in Japan at the turn of the 7th and 8th centuries AD. Their origins are linked to the political transformations during the Yamato period, when the Taihō code was introduced, recognizing the emperor's authority over the country. With the development of feudal structures, samurais became an inseparable element of Japanese society, serving as defenders of property and serving landowners.
The classic samurai armor was made of metal segments covered with leather and lacquered, connected by silk and leather straps. Over time, this armor was replaced by more functional models, such as domaru and tosei gusoku, which fit better to the body and were adapted for foot combat.
Initially, the main weapons of the samurais were the bow and naginata. In the 15th century, the yari spear was introduced, and swords evolved from simple tsurugi to curved tachi and katana. From the 16th century, samurais wore a complete daishō set, consisting of a katana and a shorter wakizashi. They also used tanto knives, axes, clubs, crossbows, and arquebuses.
