The Santa Maria, also known as La Gallega, is one of the most famous sailing ships in world history. This Spanish carrack was probably launched in the early 1480s and went down in history as the flagship of Christopher Columbus's 1492 expedition, which led to the discovery of America for Europeans.

The original vessel was a merchant ship about 19 meters long and 5.5 meters wide. Although it was the largest of the three vessels taking part in the expedition (along with the smaller caravels Nina and Pinta), its history ended tragically on December 25, 1492, when it ran aground near the island of Hispaniola. The ship was partially dismantled by the crew, and the settlement of La Navidad was built from its wood.

The Smer model in 1:270 scale allows for the construction of a miniature of this historic sailing ship. The set is characterized by compact dimensions, making it a suitable choice for modelers with limited display space.
